The story of "asaBE"

The story of asaBE began in 2019, when Isabelle Grommet, a Belgian chocolate lover, decided to put her ten years' experience in the field of nutrition and food to good use in response to an observation: all too often, sweet treats contain excessive amounts of sugar. She has now embarked on this adventure, turning into reality her idea of creating a range of Belgian chocolates with a low sugar content, but rich in cocoa, by adding essential oils.

asaBE is a healthy alternative for people with pre-diabetes or even diabetes, as its high cocoa content helps to lower the glycaemic index.

"When I launched my company, I wanted to bring to the market a range of original chocolates that combined the pleasures of the palate with health and respect for the environment. I had the idea of combining my chocolates with essential oils. I only offer products with a high cocoa content so that I can reduce the sugar content". 

Essential oils and cocoa for sensory well-being

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that capture the essence of their source. Some can be used in cooking to enhance flavour, but they always need to be diluted in a fatty or sweet substance.

To create a range of low-sugar pralines, caramels and pralines were out of the question, as were milk chocolate and white chocolate. Essential oil proved to be the perfect combination to create an original collection of top-of-the-range chocolates. It's important to note that not all essential oils are suitable for food use. It is therefore essential to exercise caution when using them, especially in the presence of children and pregnant or breast-feeding women.

When we taste chocolate, we experience a feeling of pleasure and even comfort. By combining the two, we've created an innovative concept of chocolates and mini-bars that awaken the senses. As soon as the benefits of the essential oils meet the sweetness of the chocolate, an explosion of flavours ensues, offering a sensory experience of well-being.

Where does the name of our chocolate company come from?

The name asaBE comes from "as a be", where "be" symbolises each flavour of chocolate. asaBE embodies a lifestyle of being authentic and following your feelings. The idea is to give each chocolate its own identity by reflecting the properties of the essential oil used. In this way, asaBE represents the perfect balance between flavour and pleasure.

- 50% less sugar than a traditional praline ;

- Organic essential oils;

- 62.5% cocoa for pralines and 76% for mini dark chocolate bars and 74% for chocolate bars with ginseng;

- 100% pure cocoa butter;
